There Are a Dozen or So Americans Fighting in Syria, Says FBI Head James Comey

TIME

The FBI knows of a dozen or so Americans fighting with militant extremists in Syria, FBI Director James Comey told CBS on Sunday.

He made the comments to Scott Pelley during CBS’s 60 Minutes, in his first major television interview since he took the top job in September 2013.

Comey said the FBI would track and monitor any one of those Americans if they decided to return to the U.S.

“Ultimately, an American citizen, unless their passport’s revoked, is entitled to come back. So, if someone who’s fought with ISIL, with an American passport, wants to come back, we will track them very carefully,” he told CBS.

Comey said that the two groups fighting in Syria, al-Nusra and ISIS (also referred to as ISIL), were “highly” competent and experienced terrorists.

“They are both vicious, sort of the inheritors of a lot of the mantle of al-Qaeda, and present different…

How Photoshop Helps to Restore Old Photographs

If you think that Photoshop was meant to help people create goofy photographs prior to sending them out on the Internet, you would be only half right. The truth is that Photoshop is an excellent tool to use when you are trying to breathe new life into old photos. It doesn’t matter whether you are trying to fix faded images, fill in holes that might be missing, or adding color, Photoshop has proved itself as not only an excellent tool to use for restoration, but as one that’s easy to use for that purpose as well. Consider this to be a brief primer on how quick and easy Photoshop is to use.

Faded Images. If you have an old image that’s faded, use Photoshop’s Grayscale feature to highlight your picture, then bump up the Levels. If you want to bring up your shadows, drag the black arrow from the left. If you want to bring up your highlights, drag the white arrow from the right. It’s that easy.

Fixing and Filling Holes. In the course of a photograph’s lifetime it suffers a lot of indignities. Photographs get cracked, the emulsion breaks off, not to mention all of the marks that end up being made on the image. Photoshop’s Clone tool is a wonderful resource for fixing a lot of these problems and more. If you want to fix any of these kinds of problems, select the brush feature, and working at about 95 percent at 300 zoom, pick a spot in the photo that can be used as a source, then literally “paint” whole sections of the image with that source. Clothing can be tricky since it most often has some kind of pattern, but with a little practice, practically anyone can do a good job of it.

Color. Who didn’t enjoy coloring books when they were kids? Now you can dust off those same skills, this time with Photoshop and your old photograph. It doesn’t matter whether you want to add color to an existing photograph, or take away things like stains, the Color feature will let you take care of both with the same ease you used with coloring books. All you have to do is to select the Color feature, then pick a color you want to use from the palette. You will rarely find a color that you want to use just as it is, to play with the value selector until you find something closer to what you want to use. Now you’re in business. You can use this same color feature to literally “paint” a stain or some other kind of discoloration in your restoration job.

The truth is that Photoshop is a powerful software that can provide you tools that can successfully restore old photographs. Try it for yourself and see how many incredible things you can do with it.

How to become a Professional Photo Editor

It just comes in my mind what if I would shift of becoming a photo editor. Well it sounds good but the problem is, how could I become a professional photo editor? That’s just a simple question but it takes time to be one of them, but with proper guide from experts you could easily absorb everything.

Skills required to start with:

Focus you’re interest with photography. Although photo editors don’t actually shoot pictures and do extensive retouch. They are actually collecting those pictures from their clients or if their doing these as their hobby they just download pictures from the web and then retouch it on their own way. You need to put weight on your desire to learn photography.

Take some tutorial. You need to begin learning the basics of photo editing, familiarize the things that you must engage in your way. Although there are people that are inborn talented to be a great photo editor, they are born with art and talent but still they need to start from scratch.

Develop relationship with other professionals. Be resourceful enough to gain more knowledge and techniques, so one way to do it is to seek help or ask other photographers some unique ideas or tips on how to further enhance your art.

Be open-minded and optimistic. There are some photo editors that are very good in their field but there are times that the customers are not happy or satisfied with their job because they think that they know everything, that’s why they continue to do the things which for them as a photo editors is the right thing to do. Which is not a good habit be open minded, listen to your customer’s if they like that then follow them if you think that it sounds bad then give some suggestions but if they really like it just follow them.

Apply your passion and talent. These things are common to everyone but I could say that there are rarely people who really do it with passion. Yah that’s true, even though your good at it, it means that you’re passionate enough, no for me even though you’re not really good in photo editing, you only know limited amount of techniques and ideas but if you’re born passionately and with talent in line with it you could produce an art that everyone can’t. Just do it with big smile, patience and observation who know after a week, a month or a year you can be a Professional Photo Editor, just believe in yourself and love with what you can.

Photo Editing is not just a job; it must develop inside you, your love and interest of doing it.
